Brett Kavanaugh just stabbed Republicans in the back and put future GOP majorities in doubt

Jun 13, 2023

Republicans went to the mat defending then-President Donald Trump’s three Supreme Court of the United States nominations from vile and fraudulent attacks and accusations from Democrats.

And no SCOTUS nominee needed more defending than Brett Kavanaugh – who Democrats came for with pitchforks and torches in hand.

But Kavanaugh has just stabbed Republicans in the back and put the future GOP majorities in jeopardy.

Trump changed the makeup of the Supreme Court

In Donald Trump’s single term in the White House, he had the opportunity to appoint three Justices to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Democrats tried to block each of Trump’s nominees – resorting to extreme measures, including accusing Brett Kavanaugh of gang rape.

In the end, the GOP Senate was able to get Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett across the finish line and onto the bench of the High Court.

Trump’s appointments tipped the SCOTUS scales.

Instead of four conservative Justices, four liberal Justices, and one wild card, like had been the case for years – thanks to Trump, the court was thought to have five conservatives, three liberals, and a wild card who supposedly leaned right.

And the Trump court made history when it overturned Roe v. Wade last year, returning abortion laws to state legislatures.

And the new makeup of the Supreme Court handed conservatives a number of other victories last year.

It was thought by Republicans that the new court would be the longest-lasting impact of the Trump Presidency.

But a new year is resulting in new outcomes.

Democrats want more black voting districts

The Supreme Court has ruled on a Voting Rights Act case that will have lasting ramifications for years to come.

At issue was Alabama’s Congressional map.

Leftist groups argued the map violated the VRA.

They read the law to mean that “majority minority” districts must be proportionate with the demographics of the state.

That would mean Alabama would need to have two majority black Congressional districts – however, its map currently has just one.

And remember, perhaps no other demographic groups vote in lockstep for Democrats as the black voting bloc does.

Kavanaugh turns on friends, sides with foes

The Allen v. Milligan result was shocking.

As expected, Obama-appointed Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, along with Biden-appointed Ketanji Brown Jackson, all sided with Democrats.

The surprise came when wildcard Bush-appointee Chief Justice John Roberts, as well as Trump-appointee Kavanaugh, sided with the liberal Justices.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett all ruled in the dissent.

“Alabama to intentionally redraw its longstanding congressional districts so that black voters can control a number of seats roughly proportional to the black share of the State’s population,” Justice Thomas wrote. “Section 2 demands no such thing, and, if it did, the Constitution would not permit it.”

Justice Gorsuch added that this ruling sends the VRA down a “perilous path.”

GOP is bleeding following Kavanaugh betrayal

With Alabama having to add a new minority black district, it will undoubtedly flip one seat – instead of the GOP having six Republicans and one Democrat, it will soon have five Republicans and two Democrats.

One seat shouldn’t be a deal breaker keeping the GOP from keeping its majority in the House of Representatives.

But this ruling sets a precedent and Democrats will look to take advantage.

Red State is reporting Democrats in Louisiana and South Carolina are looking to follow in Alabama’s footsteps and have already put the wheels in motion for the legal process.

With the country so evenly divided, every House seat is precious.

Democrats just won an unconstitutional advantage in upcoming Congressional races that could make New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries the next Speaker of the House.

And it’s all thanks to Kavanaugh turning his back on the people who defended him and siding with the unconstitutional and inaccurate arguments of the people who tarred and feathered him as a “serial gang rapist.”
