Authoritarian ruling class elites in what was once called the “free world” have been attempting to chip away at the working class’ liberty for decades.
But they’re apparently done with being subtle about it.
And this Democrat Governor just unleashed the greatest assault on Americans’ rights since COVID.
The elites’ new “public health emergency”
After finding that so many supposedly free individuals in the Western world were more than willing to sacrifice their liberty in the name of “public health” during COVID, authoritarian ruling class elites around the world have had the bright idea to turn everything into a “public health emergency.”
Quite frankly, it’s hard to fault them for doing so when so many in the working class happily pledged allegiance to whatever they were told was the “mainstream” narrative at the moment to fully comply with any order or restriction on liberty they were told was “in your best interest,” while also viciously attacking anyone who dared to even slightly question said narrative as a selfish, “anti-science” monster hellbent on killing millions of innocent people.
The authoritarian establishment wants total power and complete control over the American people, and nothing helped them achieve those ends more than the hysteria their media allies and those who refuse to think for themselves whipped up over the COVID “public health emergency.”
Now, New Mexico Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is taking a page out of the COVID regime’s playbook by issuing a new “public health order.”
But this time, it has nothing to do with COVID – or any other actual medical issue, for that matter.
Instead, Governor Grisham has declared that gun violence is somehow a “public health emergency” in order to prohibit anyone but government-controlled entities and “licensed security officers” from carrying firearms in public, regardless of whether it’s open or concealed.
The Governor’s order was effective immediately, and declared that “no person, other than a law enforcement officer or licensed security officer, shall possess a firearm … either openly or concealed, within cities or counties averaging 1,000 or more violent crimes per 100,000 residents per year since 2021.”
They know this won’t stand
To make matters worse, in a press conference announcing her authoritarian order, Grisham fully admitted that her ban on allowing law-abiding, working-class New Mexicans to defend themselves in public likely wouldn’t hold up in court due to its clear violations of the Constitution.
Furthermore, the order is only enforceable by law enforcement directly under her control, like the New Mexico State Police, who the Governor is deploying to maintain a “significant” presence in the state’s capital over the next month to enforce the law.
“I have to take a tough, direct stand, or basically, I’m ignoring the fact that we lost an 11-year-old,” Grisham claimed while referring to an 11-year-old who was inadvertently shot when a deranged individual, who even current gun laws would likely prevent from legally obtaining a firearm, randomly opened fire.
Other such instances the Governor and her Democrat allies have cited as justification for their authoritarian ban include a 5-year-old who was shot and killed in a recent drive-by.
What exactly Grisham and her fellow Democrats believe such a ban would accomplish in preventing criminals from engaging in drive-bys, no one really knows.
But fortunately, not everyone in government in Albuquerque is on board with the Democrat Governor’s efforts to trample on citizens’ natural right to self-defense.
Grisham also fully admitted during the press conference that some of those who appeared with her to announce the order did not agree that it was even enforceable.
Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina quickly ensured the public that the department’s officers would not be enforcing the order as well, and would instead focus on “the enforcement of criminal laws and arresting the criminals who are driving violent crime in the city,” as law enforcement should be.
Make no mistake, based on Grisham’s own admissions about the legality of such a measure, it’s rather apparent that this entire ordeal is nothing more than Democrats dipping their toes in the water to see what the temperature would be if they attempted to completely abolish the Second Amendment.
And based on the reaction of the people of New Mexico, if authoritarian ruling class elites do want to go down this road, they’re going to find that it’s not as easy as COVID was.
