Leftists across the country have weaponized the courts to try and keep Donald Trump out of the White House.
The lawfare seems to know no bounds, and it’s got plenty of people steamed.
Now Donald Trump just blasted Colorado Democrats for their latest attempt to rig the election against him.
Former President Trump has been indicted multiple times and in multiple jurisdictions.
His loyal supporters believe that these indictments are politically motivated, often based on nothing more than conjecture or leftist conspiracy theories.
They also point out that often, like in the case of allegedly mishandling classified documents, a case could be made that President Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are also culpable.
A President can declassify a document, but subordinates like a Vice President or Secretary of State cannot.
But if those indictments aren’t enough to make campaigning difficult, Colorado Democrats have upped the ante.
When they can’t succeed with indictments, they try again with disqualifications
Their latest gambit is to try to remove Trump’s name from the ballot in the state, using the 14th amendment’s insurrection clause to justify denying him the right to compete there.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution says that anyone who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof” can’t hold office.
Trump’s detractors are attempting to remove his name from the ballot even though he has never been convicted of insurrection anywhere in Colorado or elsewhere.
The lawsuit alleges that Trump “tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election.”
It further asserts that, “his efforts culminated on January 6, 2021, when he incited, exacerbated, and otherwise engaged in a violent insurrection at the United States Capitol by a mob who believed they were following his orders, and refused to protect the Capitol or call off the mob for nearly three hours as the attack unfolded.”
Now, Trump is firing back at these efforts.

Trump said, “A fake trial is currently taking place to try and illegally remove my name from the ballot. Our country is being destroyed by people who have no idea what they’re doing,” he continued, “or even worse, they may very well have an idea; they may hate our country and they may want to see it destroyed.”
He added, “If crooked Joe and the Democrats get away with removing my name from the ballot, then there will never be a free election in America again. We will have become a dictatorship where your President is chosen for you. You will no longer have a vote, or certainly won’t have a meaningful vote, and you could say, frankly, that that has already begun.”
Legal opinions differ on applicability
While Attorney Eric Olson says that Trump violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, other legal experts disagree.
Alan Dershowitz, a law professor known for his work in U.S. constitutional law, wrote, “The amendment provides no mechanism for determining whether a candidate falls within this disqualification. Significantly, the text does not authorize Congress—or any other body or individual—to impose the disqualification in the first place.”
He added, “It wasn’t intended as a general provision empowering one party to disqualify the leading candidate of the other party in any future elections.”
